Pontiac Repair: 2000 Grand AM stalling out with no warning or any code showing., fuel supply, grand am

Question
I have a 2000 Grand AM with 178000 miles. The engine is 2.4 Lt.
Twice now this has happened.  I would be driving the car and with out warning it would just die.  NO warnings.  NO check engine or service engine light lite up. When you pull the codes there are no previous codes or current ones that show a problem from the computer. When you try to start the engine it won't do anything, just turn over.
I have put in a new fuel pump about 1 year ago and it worked fine.
Can you please advise me what to look at and replace to make this stop happening. I never know when this is going to occur.

Answer
Hi there.

when this dies out what happens? does it chuggle spit and ptutter before it dies or is it just like someone turned the key off. What do you have to do to get it to start back up let it cool down or does it start right back up again? the way it acts when it stalls out and how easily it starts back up would dictate which way to start looking at either a fuel supply issue or an electrical issue of some sort. good luck :-}
