Pontiac Repair: 98 Grand Prix GTP Driver/Pass a/c difference, grand prix gtp, rust belt

Question
Hi, when I turn on the A/C the air is warmer on the driver's side than on the passenger side, and the display shows 60 degrees for both.  I have heard that this could be a sensor issue, but if so is it something I might be able to replace myself?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Frank:

heres the deal it's either a temp door actautor issue or the syetm is low on a 134A charge. turn the HVAC to hot on both sides with the car hot and see if the air blows hot on both sides. if it does turn it back down to 60 on both sides if they booth cool down but the left side is still warm not cold the temp actuators are working. on these cars when they fail the actautors just quit and will not move. Temp sensors uaully do not fail on these cars. If it is indeed low on a charge the most likley common leak in the system is the condenser is bad especially if you live in the rust belt part of the country then it VERY common. good luck :-}
