Pontiac Repair: Leaking break line under drivers door., break line, break lines

Question
I have a leak in one of the metal break lines under the drivers side door. What parts/equipment do I need and how difficult is this job?

Answer
Hi RIck:

first off you need to measure the brake line outter diameter. usually it's 3/16". All the fitting on the lines are metric ISO flair lines so you need a iso flair tool and threaded ends and unions for metric iso flair lines. They are easier to firm then double flair and seal better. You will need a flair tool and a tubing cutter. cut out the rotted line and splice in a new line. NEVER EVER use compression fitting as a repair. the next thing is to make sure you can get the bleeder screws open on the caliper or wheels cylinders depending on whay model car this is you will need to get them open to bleed the air out once fixed. It's a pretty cheap fix if you can get the bl;eeders open the lines are cheap along with the fittings. It' just takes time to fix it up. good luck :-}
