hi i have a 1996 Pontiac sunfire 2.2 5 speed it will start for about 10 secods to a minute then die like you were to shut the key off? i have no clue what to do to fix it.

When it dies does the security lamp start to flash or come on? It may be a factory theft system issue. usually about a 10 second run time is the norm. when it does die does it start right back up and run again for a short time? is it a set pattern when it does it. if not then you need to see what it's loosing spark or fuel. a spark checker is cheap you just put it in one of the plug wires and see if there is spark on that wire. fule pressure is a pain on that car there is no pressure tap to check the pressure. you can have someone listen back by the gas tank and see if the pump quits running before the car stops running. if the pump quits first then the car it's a good chance it's a bad fuel pump but with out checking the pressure it's just a guess. good luck :-}
