Pontiac Repair: Catalytic Converter, hexagon shape, mile marker

I have an 06 Pontiac Torrent and I need to get the converter changed out. My check engine light is on and what would be best to replace it? I can't afford the dealership to replace right now. The factory direct is just way out of my price range. But I have seen oval,round and a hexagon shape one. Walker,Magnaflow and various other types of brand names...I am about 400 miles over the 100000 mile marker and have had the tune up done...What would you suggest?

Obviously the factory is the best BEt but I would look for a brand name one Like walker. the other ones are name brand as well but they are from a performance company. you want as close to OEM as possible. I don't mean in appreance I maean in performance and what that is you nned one that will process the spent gases the best as to not allow the check engine light to come back on. a Futs all is not the way to go. one that is meant to fit that engine in that SUV. it's a crap shoot if you get an aftermarkket as to wether it will do the job right. You may try a junk yard as well. Some states will allow a converter to be resold some will not. If you find one at a junk yard get one of a Torrent with as litlle milage as possible on it.
