I have a 2006 Pontiac G6, and it has been making an extremely loud knocking/rattleing sound mostly when you accelerate and turn it on.  Now it does it when it's just sitting there.  It has slow pickup, but usually once you get to speed the noise stops until you accelerate, or stop. Today I was driving it and the noise got louder and when I would start to drive after a stop it wouldn't really wanna go but it would and then it just died on me. I think it's an oil problem but I really don't have any idea.  Any ideas what it could be???

Well with out hearing what the noise was I have no Idea. does the engine crank over or not? If it doesn't crank over and all you hear is the start click I would tend to think the engine seized up maybe due to lack of oil. pull the dip stick out and see if there is enough oil in the engine that it at least topuches the dipstick. Other then that there is not much more input I can give you on it. if indeed the engine seized and it was making noe long before this happened. I would thing the engine is going to be junk now.
