Pontiac Repair: Fan is stuck on & knob is off, fan switch, switch one

Question
I have a 2004 Pontiac Aztec & I noticed the fan was up higher & I was trying to cut it down the knob came off and the fan the know stuck in one of the higher positions, 3,4 or 5. I can get the button back on, but it doesn't attach in a way to let me turn the fan down or off.  I can get the other knobs off and back on and the work find, just not the control.  Please can you help me?  Thanks!

Usually just the knobs break off and if you can't put one of the other knobs on in place of the fan switch one then the heater control head will need to be replaced. Maybe the stem broke off or stripped out inside the head. without seeing it I can only guess. Good luck :)
