Pontiac Repair: Codes Po102 and Po440, vent valve, p0440

Question
I have a 2002 bonneville, 3800 V6 not supercharged. I have noticed the car won't shift in overdrive, so I placed the auto scanner on it and it read codes Po102 and then the second time was P0440?

Answer
Hi Cindy:

the 102 is a MAF sensor code the 440 is a loose gas can or gross EVAP system leak. Neither of them should not make the trnamission not shift into 4'th gear I would think. However the 102 may make the transmission shift hard into gears. for the 102 usually it's a bad sensor but I have seen ground wire issues going to the sensor make that lamp come on. the 440 is either a bad gas cap/rotted out gast tank filler nect where the cap tightens up to or possably even a bad canster Vent valve leaking that is under the car. good luck :)
