Pontiac Repair: car stops when driving, pontiac montana, gargage

pontiac montana v6 2005 new used i have had this happen twice driving to work the dash board said starter sutting down.engine goes off i try starting it and the lights come on but the engine does not turn over. then i try again and the engine tries to start  by the 4th or 5th time it starts and i get to work. i took it to a gargage they said becasue no sigh on the dash board they could not hook it up to the computer. I am scared it will stop on the highway and cause an accident. Please help.

This is an odd issue. usually they vans do not have stalling issues. They do however have hard restart issues but I'm sure it's not related to your stalling issue it's a different problem. I can't say that I have ever seen a message like that on the DIC. what I would do is stop by one of the big box auot parts stores and have it scanned for codes and see what is stored. it will give a thumbnail as to a possable root cause to this. untill you know what is any codes are stored it's hard to even give you a starting point. The times it has stalled on you was the van running for the same amount of time when it happened or is it a totally intermittant issue? If the problem can be induced by driving it "x" amount of time and it happens that helps to find the issue as well.
