Pontiac Repair: front end shimmys, pontiac montana, front wheel drive

Question
I have an 01 Pontiac Montana Van 6 cylinder front wheel drive that when your around 40-50 mph the front end want to shimmy (shake) below or above that speed it is fine. Someone told me that it could be a motor mount is this possible and could it possibly be something else? I can see the two torch mounts on top and when we put the van in gear it is moving back and forth fine. Are there others that I need to check?

Answer
Hi Tammy:

A shimmy can be a lot of things no necessarily a motor mount. can you "drive though" it meaning if you were to drive the van at 60-65 on the highway does the shimmy go a way or is it worse? can you feel it in the seat or does the steering wheel shake? Is there any kind of noise that goes along with the shimmy a chucking and or grinding noise or just the sensation/feel?
