Pontiac Repair: 99 Pontiac grand am, manifold gaskets, head gasket

Question
I have replaced the resistor by the bcm under the dash but the heat is still cool and fluctuates. Car is not idling properly. What do I try next?

Answer
Hi Lyss:

if you have heat the the temp is not even when the car is warm and you are not touching the temp dial then chance are the engine is low on coolant. if it's a V6 engine chance are the lower intake manifold gaskets are leaking and if you cought it soon enough the engine didn't over hear and ruin a head gasket. top off the coolant when the engine is cold and see what happens. topping off the coolant in not a fix if topping it off and the heat comes back then you need to have the cooling system checked for a leak. good luck :-}
