Pontiac Repair: 2004 Pontiac Grand Am 2.2 eco, Cyl 1 misfire, pontiac grand am, coil assembly

Question
Our 2004 grand am 2.2 eco. has a misfire on cyl #1. Original engine had a broken rocker and bent valve on cyl #1. replaced with used engine, 32k. after replacement, immediate misfire upon high acceleration (2000 rpm) while driving. stubles and sputters. running rich, clears out after 45 seconds, runs great again. replaced plugs, swapped icm with used, swapped injectors, did a crank pos. sensor relearn, fuel pressue at spec. all help is appreciated.

Answer
Hey Joe.
Did you try another coil pack assm. The ICM is attached to the coil assm. if you just tried a new module the issue may be with the coil assembly. not so much on the newer ones but the early eco engiens coild would go bad all the time! with an increased engine load it would be more likley for a coil to start to break down and misfire.
