Pontiac Repair: 98 grand am, autozone, grand am

Question
I am trying to fix my girlfriends 98 grand am her dad says it's first
cylinder is messed up and it has a miss....so I call autozone and they
say I jus need some coil for the cylinder I would like to knock this
project out soon bc it's our only ride right now..... so is the coil my main
concern????

what size engine is in this? If it only has 1 dead cylinder it's not very likley that it's a coil. each coil runs 2 cylinders so if you had a bad coil it would effect 2 cylinders. if this is a V6 you coild have a bad plug wire and that cause a misfire on just one cylinder.
