Pontiac Repair: 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix stalling at stop, pontiac grand prix, google search

My 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.1 V6 wants to sputter and sometimes die when I
come to a stop.  It runs fine when Im in motion.  I just replaced the fuel pump
and filter as it just recently went out.  Any ideas on what to check?  Thanks in

Hi Travis:

Has the battery died recently or the battery been replaced? Chnaces are this is an idle learn issue if either of the 2 cases occured. do this first and foremost clean the throttle body and throttle plate with air intake or carb cleaner. Take the idle control motor out and clean just the Tip of the motor with the cleaner. Disconnect the battery and touch the cable ends together and then re attach the cables. Do a Google search for your car and engine for "idle learn proceedure" it's a long drawn out ordeal and it will force the engine computer to learn the idle parameters. When you do this make sure the A?C is off. Good luck :)
