Pontiac Repair: 2001 pontia sunfire hesitates on acceleration, auto parts stores, pontia

Question
Hi there, just got the car on the road after purchasing from
previous owner and replacing all 4 tires.  The car hesitates
getting into second gear (revs to 4-5 rpm) once stopped
(sign or lights) you can feel something SLIP into gear I'm
assuming.  The car drives well, no overheating ABS light is
on, however, while coasting at 40 mph the car starting to
rev up and down and basically had a mind of its own trying
to get into the next gear, I've read it could be the
ignition coil, transmission, fuel pump...what is your
advice?  Thank you!!!

Answer
Hi Tiffany:

well with out seeing it or being able to expeperence what your talking about I would say what you discribed is a transmission issue of some sort. The ABS lamp on should have nothing to do with the transmission issue. I would have the car scanned for codes at one of the big box auto parts stores and go from there. see in Indeed there are any transmission codes stored and what the codes are in the ABS system. before you go any further. good luck :)
