Pontiac Repair: traction control, wheel speed, abs system

Question
When I go pass 70-75 my traction control comes on, and it's a loud
grinding noise when I drive the car. What could this problem be??

Answer
Hi there:

what model and year is this car? More then likely you have a wheel speed sensor that is cutting out or is reading erratic at such high speeds. Another thing could be mismatched brands of tires or tread depth difference from one wheel to another or from frt. to rear. has any ABS lamp come on or service traction lamp come on other than maybe a lamp that sats traction active? if so stop by any of the big box parts stores and have them scan for codes in the ABS system and see what codes are stored it will point you in the right direction. Good luck :)
