Pontiac Repair: 97 Grand Prix, Headlights are terrible., rubbing compound, soft cloth

Question
Currently, I have a pair of headlights that don't give shed
much light while driving. I am purchasing more and going to
install them next weekend (I have done this before). What is
the best way to have them installed to have them shed as much
light as possible and what bulbs do you recommend?

Answer
Hey Kyle:

are the lenses just clouded badly? are they full of water or are the bulbs burnt out? if the lenses are clouded there are headlamp refinish kits on the market that work OR you can try using something you have right in your house. Toothpaste Yes Toothpaste! use a soft cloth and put a pea sized dab on the cloth and rub it on the lense like using rubbing compound on a scratch on the paint. let it dry and haze up and use another soft cloth and buff the toothpaste off and it should remove a good amount of the cloud. If the lamps are full of water replace the lamps them selfs.  if the bulbs are burnt out use only origianl equipment parts no super bright replacemnet part those cause probelms and melt electrical connectors and lenses. good luck :)
