Pontiac Repair: Brake lights, gm tech2, brake light switch

Question
I have a 2006,G6 with a 4 cylinder. The brake lights are on when my foot is off the brakes and go off when I depress the brake pedal. Also it is sometimes tough to shift from park to R. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the connectors from the BMC but that did not help. Any suggestion on what to try next is appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Mike:
the BCM in this car controls the brake light you are correct but the brake light switch "position sensor" needs to be calibrated in the BCM. You culd have a bad sensor on the pedal or a bad BCM. You can't claibrate the sensor in the module unless you have a true scan tool or a GM Tech2 scan tool. It's not a job for the do it your selfer. Sorry.. If you had a scan tool you could see what the sensor reading is and what the bcm is seeing. sorry to give you the bad news.. Good luck :-}
