Pontiac Repair: Misfire, noid light, cam sensor

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am 2.4L and it misfires on cylinders one and 3. I have bought 2 new ignition coils and new plugs and i have checked the timing chain and everything was alright but still misfired. I also checked the knock sensor, cam sensor and they also were working correctly. The ohms were normal. I checked the wires to the fuel injector and the fuel injectors and switched the injectors around and after all of that it still misfires on 1 and 3.

ANSWER: Hi Destinee:

well it one of 2 things either and ignition module or the coil housing "the plastic piece the ignition coils sit in" That is a more common issue then the module it's self. the insulation in the cover breaks down over time and the coil starts to cross feed inside the cover. good luck :-}

QUESTION: Thank you for answering me so quickly.
I took the ignition module to autozone to have it checked and they said it was working good and i changed the coil housing and my car continues to misfire on cylinders one and three. Do you know any other reasons why it would still misfire?

Answer
Okay so you tried that. do you know if it's loosing spark or injector pulse? narrow it down that way. the reason I mentioned the coil cover is the 2 cylinders are matched up 1/4 2/3. switching the injectors around is not going to fix it if you have no pulse to the injetors. you need a Noid light or a computre safe test light to check for injetor pulse. A regular 12Volt lamp is not good to use!
