Pontiac Repair: 2004 GP GTP Heads Up Display, gp gtp, google search

Question
Todd, my heads up works great.  I can see it working from outside the car, looking directly down through the windshield.  Kind of hard to drive from there! There is a spring that holds the mirror in place so that I should be able to see the HU from the drivers seat.  That spring is just hanging and swinging with the turns.  HOW do I get access inside the lens to replace that mirror spring so I can see my HU again from inside the car?  Thanks so much.

Answer
Hi Brent:
well in order to get the HUD display unit out you need to remove the top part of the dash pad then take the unit out. I can tell you from experince that the spring in the unit doesn't just fall off Something else in the unit broke cauining the mirror to just dangle there. We at the dealershipo do not fix them we send out for an exchange unit and just replace the unit as a whole. NONE of the electronic units are fixed at the dealer shit EG: HUD/Radio/Speedo head.. They are all exchange units from an AC delco relait facility. So I think your efforst are going to be all for naught. stop by an GM dealer and ask how much a exchange remanufactured unit will cost. You can also inquire your self Via the web the company that we get them from is either SPECMO or United radio They Man deal with the agearge consumer but I doubt it try a google search and see what happens. good luck :)
