Pontiac Repair: 95 grand prix, fuel pressure gauge, psi pressure

Question
My 95 grand prix died one day while driving. It turns over but doesn't start. When I turn the key on I can hear the fuel pump kick on put a few people I talked to think its the fuel pump. I pushed the air vavle for gas line with the key on and gas just trickled out does that seem rite or is the pump bad

Answer
Hi Bob:

could be a fuel pump issue. that engine needs arounf 40 PSI pressure to run so if it just dribbles out that could be your issue. I would get a fuel pressure gauge and see for sure what you have for pressure. if indeed the pump is bad replace the fuel filter as well. usually they plug up and the pump works it self to death trying to push the fuel through a restricted filter. good luck :)
