Pontiac Repair: rear wheel stud, flat washer, brake drum

Question
I have a broken rear wheel stud on my 1996 GMC 1/2 ton 4WD Sierra.  How do I replace it?

Answer
Hi Don:

take the wheel off and the brake drum. then use a punch an a hammer and drivethe broken stud through the flange on the axle then get a new nut and stud and push the new stud through the flange untill the knerl on the stud is upto theback side of the flange then put a flat washer on the stud and the new nut on upside down so the bevel faces outward and use an open end wrench and tightenthe nut up on the stud it will pull the stud through the axle flange when it bottoms out on the back side of the flange your done. loosen the nut and re assemble it.
Good luck :)
