G6 Rusted Rotor
I have a 2006 Pontiac G6 GT with about 56K miles.  Recently I started hearing a loud screeching coming from my rear passenger wheel. I hear the screeching more when I'm NOT braking. When the screeching began, it was very seldom, and happened more when I was going over 25mph and turning left.  Now it is so bad, that I hear it both when I am braking and when I'm not braking and when I'm going over 10-15mph and not even turning, and I think the rear driver side wheel is starting to make the same noise.  I just put new brakes on all 4 wheels about 1 year ago and I put new rotors on the front wheels.  I have heard that rusted rotors could be the cause of this screeching. There does appear to be a good bit of rust build up on the outer rim of the rotor, but not where the brake pad makes contact. Any thoughts?

Answer
Hi Andrew:
Nice pictures, I would sya yes with out actually seeing it that that could very well be the root cause of the noise either that or the outter diameter of the rotor could be rubbing on the anti rattle shims in the calipers. If you live in the rust belt like I do it's pretty common. that and cheap parts to go along with the climate spells what you have going on. Good luck :)
