Pontiac Repair: Brake line, drum brakes, rust belt

Question
How much will it cost me to replace a brake line on my 2000 Grand Am? Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Scott:

You must live in the rust belt like I do. Are you replacing all the lines of just a single one? I would suggest that you do them all if one blew out the other ones are not far behind. I think those are still available from GM and are sold as a bundle all preformed along with the fuel lines I think all of the lines bunched togeher are less then $200.00 and add in the labor figure 4-5 hours of time to replace them all and then bleed the brakes out. The unknown is the Labor rate of a repair shop and any incidentals that you may need like a break hose or a caliper that the bleeder will not open or a wheel cylinder that the bleeder will not open if it has drum brakes.. Good luck :)
