Pontiac Repair: pass key 3, start the car, turn the key

2000 grand prix have the existing key but bought a new one as a spare.  How do you program the new key

Hi Michael:

Once you have the key cut to match the key you have and the key is indeed a PK3 key stamped on in and not a (+) it will program like this start the car with your existing key turn the key off take it out and with in 10 seconds start the car with the new key. It should work fine unless the car already has 4 keys learned to it then it will fail 4 is the max allowed amount of keys that can be learned to the car. If this car was bought used you would have no way of knowing how many were already learned to the car. Good luck :-}
