Pontiac Repair: 94 pontiac grand prix 3.1, coolant level, pontiac grand prix

Question
Bought the car for my daughter. Took it for a test drive and noticed that the coolant level low light comes on and off. The levels are good. Also the temp gauge is not working too. What should I do?

Answer
Hi Edward:

fix the coolant gauge first and foremost.. It could be anything from a bad temp sensor on the engine to a wiring issue to a bad gauge with out test equipment it's a guess as to what the issue could be. As for the low coolant lamp on that more then likley is the probe/module on the radiator on the right side of the car under the radiator cap. it will have either 1 or 2 wires comming off the probe unplug  it and see if the low lamp goes out if so the module/probe is bad. good luck :)
