Pontiac Repair: water leak on passenger floor, 2004 pontiac vibe, pontiac vibe

Question
2004 Pontiac Vibe....when the car sits outside during a heavy rain the next time it is driven water leaks onto the carpet on the passenger side.

Answer
Hi Jim:

well either the drain tube for the HVAC unit is plugged of there is a leak in the cowl area under the windshield and the rain water is getting into the HVAC module. I would look at the drain first and foremost. pull the rug back on the passenger side and look near the base of the floor and you will see the hose running from the bottom of the heater case into the floor that is the drain then look under the car and you can use a piece of stiff wire and GENTLY insert it to the outside part of the drain and see if you can dislodge and debris don't use a pice much longer then the drain hose in you do you could extend it itno the heater box and puncture the Evap coil or heater core.. good luck :)
