Pontiac Repair: remote transmitter, ac delco, scan tool

i have a 2006 gran prix 6cyl. i have a new remote transmitter and would like to know how to program it.if i can do it myself with a auto scanner what is the procedure.   thank you for any help

Hi Nathan:

you need a scan tool to do it on that car. up to around 2003 you could do it with out a scan tool anything GM from then up you pretty much need a scan tool to program them. Usually a dealer will charge you 1/2 labor to do the job. Any ac delco repair shop can do it as well they have the same scan tool equipment that the dealer has access to. good luck :)
