Pontiac Repair: getting the oil pan off a 99 sunfire, low oil pressure, possability

Question
Hi Todd,

Actually you did not answer the question I was asking, your answer to my first question "My problem is low oil pressure-only 8 psi at 2000 rpm" stated that it might be "sludge clogging the oil pump pick-up".

**My follow-up question was " Assuming the pick-up is in the oil pan,how hard is it to get the pan off? "

Sorry for any mis-understanding.
Derek

Answer
It's not that had to get the pan off There is an engine mount that goes under the oil pan that has to be removed to get to the pan bolts and a coolant metal pipe also under the pan that has top be removed as well. The job will suck doing it on your back!! I camn tell you if I were a betting man that the sluge possability is down the list of reasons for this I would just bet the engine is tired and worn out.
