Pontiac Repair: 2005 Vibe throttle control., power transmission line, high voltage power

Question
I have a 2005 Pontiac Vibe Auto trans FWD with cruise control. It appears to have a computer between the gas pedal and the throttle body.  Am I stuck with an electronic cruise control and/or computer that might malfunction when I drive under a high voltage power transmission line?

Is there an older Toyota mechanical cable linkage which could safely replace the computer connection?

Answer
Hi Orville:

Good question and I don't have an answer for you nor does GM or Toyota. I can tell you this your car is not involved in the recall only 2009 and 2010 Vibes are part of the toyota/gm recall. I can tell you the gas pedal on these older Vibes are different then the ones involved in the recall. Now will you ever have an issue with this I don't know. I don't engineer them All I do is fix 'em with the tools and parts they give us to fix them. That aside I have never heard of ANY vibe that has had an issue like what you hear on the news from toyota's.. If that gives you any piece of mind.. Have a great day.
