Pontiac Repair: pontiac grand prix 2000 - low oil light always on, low oil pressure, pontiac grand prix

Question
about 3500 miles ago, got an oil change and ever since the low oil light has been on. just got another oil change at valvoline yesterday, and the light is still on. the car runs just fine. i would think if the oil pump was broken or something and the engine wasnt getting oil circulation i would know after 3500 miles right? should i take it in?

Answer
Hi Scott:

I'm going to assuem the light your refering to is NOT the red warning light but low oil level lamp that is orange? If so either the sensor in the oil pan is bad or the wiring to the sensor it's self is bad. If it's the orange lamp don;t worry about it just check the oil level regularly. Now on the other hand if it's the red lamp get it check out that is the low oil pressure warning lamp and that can be a big problem. good luck :)
