Pontiac Repair: 95 ponitac transport 3.1, ponitac, fuel filter

we traveled recently but the power is excellent but when we travel uphill, we barely hav power. what could be the problem?

Hi Sandra:

The first thing I would check is the fuel filter. It's the most overlooked maintence part on these van. I would guess it's plugged and not allowing enough fuel to the engine under a heavy load. It could be a lot of other things but start with the basics. I'm guessing no service engine soon lamp has been on or you would have mentioned it. If the lamp comes on it would indicate a hard fault and then there would be something to go on other then a hunch. good luck :)
