Pontiac Repair: 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, auto parts stores, computer controled

Not sure what size engine it is but i have the base model Grand Am. I'm trying to figure out why my battery light stays on. I replaced the battery a little over a year ago and just took it to get charged just yesterday. it read that my battery was good but my light stays on. it runs fine, just wondering why it would stay on

Hi Will:

The lamp is on due to a chargeing system failure. More then likely the alternator has failed. Depending on the engine in this is how the alternator works it may be computer controled depending on the engine in the car. If you take the laternatopr off the car most of the big box auto parts stores have the equipment to test it for sure to let you know if it's bad or not. good luck :)
