Pontiac Repair: fuel problem, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum line

Question
Hey Todd    I have a 1995 bonneville and and every once in a while it will chug and sputter when you first start it and stall and wont start again. If you then release the pressure on the relief vave on the fuel rail and key the fuel pump 2 times it will fire right up.Ithought either water on dirt in the fuel so I tried gas line anti-freeze then fuel injector cleaner cleaner but still doing it.It does not seem to happen if the car is cold but only after shutting off and then trying to start after 15-60 minutes but only once in a while.Any syuggestions?    Thank-you.      Jeff

Answer
Hey Jeff:
If this car has a lot of miles on it I would do a few things to it. first off clean the throttle body and bore along with the idle control motor. I would run a bottle of Chevron Tehcron fuel system cleaner though it... If it really has a lot of miles on it say more then 100K I would get a product called top engine cleaner from the GM dealer and use that as well. next I would check to kake sure the fuel pressure regulator is not leaking raw fuel into the vacuum line going to it. start the car up let it run for a minute or so and then shut it off after about 20 minutes pull the vacuum line off and see if there is raw fuel in the line if so the regulator is bad. That is where I would start looking... good luck :)
