Pontiac Repair: reset security on 97 Grand Prix after battery change, grand prix gtp, foot to the floor

Question
I changed the battery on my 97 Grand Prix GTP.  Now when I try to start the car it runs for 4 or 5 seconds, then stalls.  What will remedy this?  Thanks, Dan

Answer
Hi Dan:

if you hold your foot to the floor can you keep it running that way so the engine is running up against the rev limiter? if so the resistor for the fuel pump is bad. which is loacted in the right front fender by the battery. you may have disturbed the connector to the resitor or damaged it somehow changing the battery. the resistor is in the fender well but the connector is by the battery it has a 2 wire connector on it.. that is my guess as to what happend here. The battery didn't cause the problem or is not causing the problem.
good luck :)
