Pontiac Repair: Headlights, daytime running lights, highbeams

Question
Todd:  I have a 97 Sunfire.  Daytime running lights work well.  Both headlights on high or low quit.  When I pull back the highbeam switch the blue high beam light comes on but when I let go it does not stay in place.  I can see the highbeams come on.  Yesterday for some reason headlights were working again but this morning nothing.  Is this going to cost me a fortune to get fixed?

Answer
HI Peter:
If all the lights work lo/hi/drl's and you have to hold the switch in the flash to pass feature for the HI beams to work it needs a headlamp dimmer switch. That is part of the turn signal stalk. labor is not bad for that maybe an hour I have NO IDEA how much the part is.. I just fix em' and have nothing to do with parts prices.. good luck :)
