Subaru Repair: ABS Light, subaru outback sport, subaru outback

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1998 Subaru Outback Sport, and the ABS light is stuck. Subaru wants $95 just to drive it onto the lot. Is there a way to temporarily disable that light?

ANSWER: Sorry, There is no way to turn off the light until the problem is fixed. Your normal brakes will work just fine, but you will not have ABS.

QUESTION: It came on after Car X worked on my brakes. Everyone says it is just a sensor, but their computers won't read mine. Do you have any recommendations other than taking it to the Subaru dealership and paying a fortune?

Answer
you can't read the abs codes with a scanner. There is a black connector under the dash that has 2 back groung wires that they would need to plug in and get the code from the flashing light. You may want the dealer to diagnose the problem then decide how you want to go about getting it repaired.
