Pontiac Repair: coolant leak, plastic elbow, bars stop leak

Question
I have a 95 bonneville with a 3.8 in it.The other day I noticed it was leaking anti-freeze quite bad.I found that it was leaking from the plastic elbow that comes out of the intake to what looks like the bracket for the belt tensioner.I put in bars stop leak and it slowed it considerably but is still leaking. How do you get that plastic elbow out?Is there anything else I can use to stop the leak.Dont want to spend piles of money on her,428,000 kms on it and only need her last about 2 more months.

Answer
Hi Jeff.

You need to take the bracket off the front of the engine that attaches the alternator to the engine that bracket is also part of the belt tensioner. the coolant flows through the bottom of the bracket thare are actually 2 elbows on the bracket the one that goes to the intake and one that goes onto the front timing cover get both elbows they come the seals on them I believe. the end of the elbow will be broken off inside the intake use a cotter key remover or a stiff 90 degree pick and you can pry the broken end off from inside the intake. It will more then liley break off in the tensioner bracket as well. use the same tool to get it out of there as well. Good luck :)
