Pontiac Repair: 99 chevy exprerss 2500 cargo van, clam shell, fuse block

Question
the above vehicle was running for about 15 to 20 mins this morning it was about 15 below this morning at the time, i closed up the back doors and the van stopped running and now will not fire at all. I had someone tell me a couple of months ago that the catalytic converter was plugged because there is most of the time a rotten smell from the exhaust. I have also noticed that while driving down the road that there is a surge or what feels as though the motor chugs,  it has 144250 miles on it . any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer
Hi Allen:

well 2 thoughts. either a fule pump quit or it has a bad connection going to it and closing the van door jared it enough to quit running. Second guess is a bad engine control module. on that older style van the engine computers would collect water on top of them and corrode the computer and actually split the halfs of it open like a clam shell. I take it you live in the rust belt like I do and that was common for those back in the day... The engine computer is under the hood on the left side "driver" down near the fram rail under the fuse block just take a peek down there if it's a corrision issue with it it's pretty obvious you'll see it.  Those are my 2 thoughs.  Good Luck :)
