Pontiac Repair: 2009 G5, pocess, emission system

Question
I have 1,200 miles G5 live in IN. and twice already been driving down the highway cruise set on 60 mph and the cabin get filled with raw fuel smell, enough to water my eyes. Both times pull over pop hood look for raw gas leak and nothing. ODD my 07 cobalt would do the same thing it did it appr.15-20 times in 44,000 miles that I drove it. Dealer says I'm crazy. So did my dad till this past sat. and he got to enjoy the smell also. Both cars engine up to temp when problem occurs. And no I don't start car in parking lot and let idle to clear windows either before driving off loading up converter. Took to dealer last night and told him seems like it has to be an O ring injector line or injector but they blew me off as usual. Any help greatly appreciated. THANK YOU.

Answer
Hey Darren:

This is a wired issue and on both cars? I have yet to come across an issue like this on these cars. there is no such thing as an intermittant fuel leak it either leaks or it doesn't especially with the amount of fuel pressure these cars run even a small leak becomes a large leak due to the pressure and volume. If they said they can's find a leak at the engine I believe them It's not blowing you off. It's the type of thing that it either is leaking or it's not. What might be happening here is this does it happen after a fuel tank fill up? or a drive cycle after a fill up? It's possable that the fuel tank is venting pressure and the venting pocess is happening while your driving down the road and with the HVAC on I guess under the right conditions the outside vented emission canister air could be sucked into the car and that is what you smell??? It's a long shot but after a fuel tank fill up the emission system runs a purge and test to reburn the captured vapors from filling the gas tank up.. That is the only answer I have for you, Sorry.
