Pontiac Repair: Car dying, pontiac sunfire gt, pontiac sunfire

Question
When I start my '96 pontiac sunfire GT with the 2.4L motor it fires fine but dies right away. when fired again it dies. If when I fire it and I push the gas and raise the RPM's it stays running until i let off the gas to stop, then it dies. I have thout a couple different things, fuel pump or M.A.P. sensor. What do you think it could be? Thank you!

Is there a security lamp on? if so the factory anti theft system is shutting down the engine. If not then I would look at a fuel pump fist and foremost. You need approx 40 psi for this engien to run. did this happen right out of the blue or was it lacking power for a while before it quit running? if that were the case I would look at possably a restricted exhaust for a bad cat converter.. that would be down the list a bit on things to look at.. good luck :)
