Pontiac Repair: 2003 Pontiac Grand Am - No Lights, fuse boxes, cowl area

Question
I have an intermittent problem where after I start my car at night the headlights, dash lights, radio, and dome light would not work for some period of time.  Sometimes they work after 10-15 seconds.  Once I shut the car off and restarted it four times before they started to work.  This problem is intermittent.

Answer
Hey Rick:

intermittant problems are very hard to find. Does this car have a sun roof? If so I would take a look in both fuse boxes on either side of the dash board and see if there is any evidnce of water leaking into either fues box. If so the sunrood drains are leaking water into the car and into the fuse boxes. Second place to look is on the right side of the dash under the glove box remove the hush panel and the Body control module is under the blower motor it has 3 connector going into it. unplug all 3 connector and see if there is any corroision in any of the connectors if so there is water leaking tino the heater box from the cowl area under the windshiled.. If you find none of these issues I would stop buy one of the big box autoparts stores and see if they can scan the car for body control module codes. mosy of them will do it for free and what ever codes are stored will give you an idea of what to look for... does any thing else not work on this car other then the lights? how about the blower motor? do
the dash warning lights and gauges work when this happens?

Good luck :)
