Pontiac Repair: Grand Prix, fuel pressure regulator, crank shaft

Question
I have a 2001 Grand Prix. The car has 150000 miles on it and works perfectly. Recently, the car has not been starting properly. I turn the key and it turns over but does not fire. I let it sit for a couple minutes and try again...same thing. Then i will leave it for like an hour try again, and starts up just fine...then it does after leaving it idle for about 3 minutes. Sometimes it will just run like normal though. can you PLEASE help?

Answer
Hi Craig:
does this have any kind of a stalling issue once it's running or when it's running does it run rough stuble or any service engine light on? when it does start does it billow black smoke out the tail pipes? I'm thinking that you have a fuel deliver issue or lack ther of or an ignition problem. Possable a bad crank shaft sensor for the ignition system or for the fule system either a leaking fuel pressure regulator and or injectors or the check valve in the fuel pump is leaking. Some of the questions I asked here those answers will lead towards the right way to look at this issue. Good Luck :0
