Pontiac Repair: Rear Doors Stuck, 1997 pontiac sunfire, pontiac sunfire

Question
1997 Pontiac Sunfire - within a month neither rear door will open - one door last month - the other door now. any suggestion on where to try to spray WD-40 or other trick to get the rear doors to open again? I know it's an oddball question. No obvious problem with electric locks - but I'll look there with a suggestion that way.
Thanks for attention to a relatively minor annoyance. Bob

Answer
Hey Bob:

This is a easy fix once you get to the lock but that is where the problem is. The only way to get to the lock to try ot unlatch the door it to take the door trim off from the inside of the car. That is where the problem lies.. The drro trim is meant to be taken off when the door is open and that is the root issue her yoi can't open the doors.. If you climb into the back seat and take out the bottom of the rear seat you can then try to get the door trim off from the inside of the car.. ther are a few screws that are in the door pulls that hold the trim on and a bezel that is around the inside door handle. Then gently pry the door trim off the door. Chance are your going to carck and or brwak the trim taking it off the door because of the tight quarters your working in. once you get it off the door peel back the water barrier platic and then you can get to the door lock and spray it it with a good lubricant a product called PB blaster work great. Wd-40 works okay as well. once you spray it up and let it sit a while the door should open right up. The latches are just seized up. Good luck :)
