Pontiac Repair: 05 Uplander LS, contatcs, front doors

Question
Hello Todd,
I just purchased a used 05 Uplander and I can't seem to get the power locks to work on the slider doors.  All the other locks are working fine(driver's/passenger door and trunk lid).  It almost seems as if they're turned off?  A friend suggested that maybe the actuator has gone bad but it seems strange to me that both would be bad.  Any suggestions as to where I should start troubleshooting?

Thanks,
Tim

Answer
Hi Tim:

take a look at the contacts and plungers on the sliding doors. The plungers are on the font side of the door and the contacts are on the "B" pillar which it just behinf where the front doors close. the pungers and contacts corrode and then there is poor contacts between the doors and the body. Use a very fine sand paper and clean the corrosion of the contatcs and the plungers. then get some eielectric grease at the cars parts store and put a few dabs on the cleaned surfaces and that should do it for you. good luck :)
