Pontiac Repair: wiper blades, pontiac grand prix, wiper blades

Question
I have a 1998 Pontiac grand prix and the wipers do not run smooth on the windshield when it rains. It's like I am running them on dry glass. I'm wondering if the arms are too heavy on the glass, I put new wipers on the car. Is there a way to adjust the arms or is there another reason for this problem.

Hi Keith:
So they "bounce/jump" across the glass? were that way before you replaced the blades? If so then obviously the blades were not the issue unless you bough old stock and the rubber is dried up and hard or if they are cheap bldes that do not fit on the arms right and the blades are rocking back and forth in the arms. Other then that there is no adjustment on the arms the most lilley cause would be the pivot on the arm are binding up and corroded or the springs are weak in the arms or the arms are bent and the wipers are not sitting square on the blade thus not square on the window if it's any of those the arms need to be replaced.
