Pontiac Repair: Heated seat, pontiac grand prix, heater element

Question
The drivers side heated seat stopped working on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix 3800 SC. Leather seat. The fuses are ok and the switch lights still working. The seat is also electric with lumbar. They work fine. Is there an electrical schematic for it and if so is a bad element difficult to replace?

Answer
Hi James:

ther are only 2 things that go bad on those seats either the timer/relay under the seat or the element it's self. 8 out of 10 times it's the elements that go bad. the other 20% it's the relay assembly under the seat. It's not hard to change just more of a pain to get to it. You have to remove the seat cover to get to the heater element. On some of those older cars the elemnet is actually part of the seat cover.. I'm not a parts guy so I acn't tell you if this one is serviced seperitly or it's part of the seat cover. Good luck :)
