Pontiac Repair: Cigarett Lighters not working, pontiac grand prix, sephanie

Question
I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE, 3.1 LTR 3100 V6 SFI Engine. The Cigarett lighter in my car does not work. When I put a new fuse in the Fuse Block it automatically blew, and I did use the right fuse and everything according to my manual. Is there a short somewhere and, can I fix the problem myself? My Back passenger side window also will not work with the automatic window button by the drivers side or by the back seat. Then all of a sudden I start driving one day and my window starts opening. I have to push it up by hand, but every time I go somewhere it just comes down. How can I make it at least just stay closed again?

Answer
Hi Sephanie:

Is the lighter element stuck in the down position in the housing? If not take a look to see is any spare change fell down into the lighter housing that has been know to happen. other wise there is a dead short in the wiring for the lighter some where. As for the windows I would say you have a switch contacts that are stuck in the down position. If you can get it in the up close position then unplug the window switch at that door and that will stop the power from going to the motor and rolling it down. good luck :)
