Pontiac Repair: Driver Information Center, grand prix gtp, fuse block

Question
I have a 97 Grand Prix GTP V6 Supercharge. The low coolant light usually
blinks it has coolant yet it blinks anyhoo when it goes solid the battery
light comes on and the Driver Information Center Goes blank, the
headlights go out as well as the inside lights, but when I step on the
brake it all comes back on. But as soon as I push on the gas pedal it goes
out again. What is causing this?

Answer
Hi Shantel:

I thonk you have multipel issues here. The low coolant lite needs the probe/module in the radiator those go bad all the time. As for the Dic cutting out along with the lamps I think you have a bad connection going on here either a power feed or a ground. does this stuff cut out when a big load is put on the electrical system like turning on the head lamps? If so I would think you have a bad power feed like possably a bad ignition switch. When these cut out check the fuses in the fuse block with a test lamp check the fuses for what ever accessories cut out. You should have battery voltage on the fuses If not you have a bad power feed. if you do have battery volatge you have a ground issue here like either at the battery or on the body near the battery or at the engine where the ground wire attaches.. Wiggle the batter ycables if they are loose or look corroded start there.
Good luck :)
