Pontiac Repair: key wont turn in ignition, pontiac grand am, sprits

Question
I have a 96 pontiac grand am and i noticed that it has a hard time unlocking my door and today when I went to start the car the key just won't turn...I have checked EVERYTHING that there is to check...it is in park...the steering wheel is locked and I jiggle it and turn the wheel at the same time...I am frustrated beyond belief as I just bought this car Wednesday....HELP!! =(

if your having issues with the same key both unlocking the door and the ignition swith I would tend to think the issue is with the key and not the car. if you have a second key try that and see if that works. if not then you more then likley have an issue withe the lock cylinders in the car The door one may be corroed due to the weather and the ignition one may have a tumbler binding up. you may want to try a sprits of like wd40 in the lock cylinders. as for the ignition one with the key it try tapping on the end of the key with something while trying to turn it at the same time. NOTHING TO BIG LIKE A HAMMER just TAP on it.
